McCall Lake Golf Course: City of Calgary Online Survey – Help Save McCall Lake!

McCall Lake Golf Course City of Calgary Online Survey - Help Save McCall Lake

Calgarian’s were outraged when the City of Calgary first announced they would close McCall Lake Golf Course at the end of the 2014 golf season. The City of Calgary later announced McCall Lake would remain open for an extra season and would close after the 2015 golf season. The plan was to sell the land for private development and was expected to raise between $30-$80 million for the city.

The timeline has been adjusted to allow for further analysis of potential site redevelopment and allow public engagement. The City has released an online survey to get your opinion. This is your chance Calgary to help save one of our few remaining public golf courses.

The City of Calgary is surveying Calgarians aged 18 years and older to gather input about the potential closure and redevelopment of the McCall Lake golf course. We are interested in your opinions even if you are not a golfer.

The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete and please be assured that all of your responses will remain confidential, and you will not be personally identified. Any personal information collected is under the authority of the Freedom of Information Protection and Privacy Act, Section 33(c), and is used solely for the review and improvement of City of Calgary customer related programs.

Should you have any questions about this survey, please call 311 and refer to the Calgary McCall Lake Golf Course Survey.

On behalf of The City of Calgary, we thank you for your time and feedback.

McCall Lake Golf Course to Close After 2014 Season

McCall Lake Golf Course to Close After 2014 Season

If you haven’t heard, the City of Calgary will be closing McCall Lake Golf Course after the end of the 2014 golf season 🙁

With increasing costs to operate the golf course, McCall Lake loses over $200,000 a year! The City of Calgary plans on selling the land for private development including industrial uses. The sale of the land is expected to raise between $30-$80 million for the city.

It’s going to be sad to see it go and will make it that much harder to find a tee time in the city. You should try to get out and play the course as often as you can before they close it forever.
